Travelling at a mature age can sometimes require a visit to a healthcare provider. Rotorua has world class healthcare facilities and plenty of support for elderly travellers.
For a quick check ups or general GP visit Rotorua has two medical centers that provide drop-in clinics, great for visitors.
Ranolf Medical Centre provide drop-in clinics daily between 8.30am and 11am, and the patients are seen in the order they present. For patients from New Zealand with a Community Services card the fee for a GP visit is $65 and $80 without. Patients from Australia or the UK, $80 and those from everywhere else, $125 for a GP visit. Ngongotaha Medical Center is a 10 minute drive from Rotorua’s CBD. Open 8am to 10pm with a Doctor on call overnight, they provide drop-in clinics, a laboratory, and after hours medical care. Ngonogotaha Medical center are happy to welcome visitors through the drop-in clinics or by appointment. Ngongotaha Medical Center is located at 17 Taui Street, Ngongotaha.

If your in need of a pharmacy, visit Rotorua Lakes Care Pharmacy. Open 7 days from 8.30 am till 9.30pm, they are Rotorua’s only pharmacy that is open late into the even. Lakes Care Pharmacy will have everything you need and friendly staff waiting to help.
Don’t forget that if your travelling domestically your medical insurance can still cover you. However if you need travel insurance, there are some great options for mature travellers.
Cigna provide cover for all travellers but do offer 50+ travellers a special package. The 50+ package can cover any pre-existing conditions! Rest easy knowing that you have everything taken of with this policy and just enjoy the holiday.
